Guest Support for Joomla! - Documentation

Departments are important part of the Guest Support extension. This is where you setup support agents and email notifications.

  1. You can use one department in free version.
  2. You can add/edit/delete unlimited departments with the Pro version.
  3. You can assign any registered user as a support agent
  4. You can assign one agent per department
  5. You can show/hide departments on ticket creation form. However, if you hide, you will have to set a default department for the specific ticket creation form.
  6. After creating a new ticket by selecting an specific department, the department's agent and the user will receive email notifications
  7. You can add unlimited additional email addresses per department to receive new ticket or reply or both email notifications.

 

How to see list of Departments?

  1. Login to Joomla! Administrator
  2. Click on Components -> Guest Support -> Departments

 

How to add new Department (Pro version required)?

  1. Login to Joomla! Administrator
  2. Click on Components -> Guest Support -> Departments



  3. Click on New button




  4. Now you should see new department creation form like-

  5. Department Name*: Add your new department name. Department name should be unique.
  6. Support Agent (for this Department)*: Type a registered user's email address you want to add as agent and select the user.
  7. Additional Emails Notifications (each email in new line): Add additional email addresses where you want to receive email notifications when new tickets created by selecting this department and replies submitted to the ticket.
  8. Additional Emails Notifications Type: You can choose to receive additional email notifications when new ticket or reply or both ticket and reply created.
  9. Now click on Save & Close button to create the department. 

 

How to edit Departments?

  1. Login to Joomla! Administrator
  2. Click on Components -> Guest Support -> Departments



  3. From departments list, click on a department name to go to the edit page. 
    Alternatively, you can select a department and then click on ... Actions -> Edit

How to delete Department (Pro version required)?

  1. Login to Joomla! Administrator
  2. Click on Components -> Guest Support -> Departments



  3. From departments list, select departments you want to delete and then click on ... Actions -> Delete
